Dialogue and power in a treatment meeting
Psykologia 41: 196&endash;204. Vammala ISSN 0355-1067.
The purpose of this study is to explain how a family- and network-centered treatment meeting appears from the standpoint of use of power. The material used for this research is a video recording of a treatment meeting. The research method is discourse analysis, and the research approach is a qualitative case study. This research shows that in a treatment meeting it is possible to act against the ideal of openness, if power issues are not brought into the dialogue. If an attempt is made to conceal the efforts toward power, it is a question of indoctrination.
Key words:
Indoctrination, dialogue, power, treatment meeting.
