Perceptions of finnish- and swedish-speaking workers about the safety climate of their enterprise
Psykologia 37:488-494. Vammala ISSN 0355-1067.
The aim of this study is to compare the perceptions of Finnish- and Swedish-speaking workers about the safety climate of their enterprise. 148 Finnish- and 138 Swedish-speaking workers from 14 companies participated in this study. They filled the safety action questionnaire developed by Seppälä, which has acceptable reliability. There were no significant differences between language groups in the measures of safety climate and safety actions. Based on the single items, it can be said that Swedish-speaking workers stressed more collective safety, whereas Finnish-speaking workers emphasized their own responsibility about occupational safety.
Key words:
Ooccupational safety, mother tongue, industrial workers, Ostrobothnia.
